Claudia: Does her diet story have a happy ending?

You've been dieting for many years now. Tell us a bit about how it all started for you.

"My dieting story has been going on for many years now. In the past, I've lost weight on and off, then gained it back. Lost weight. Gained weight. I think many people are familiar with this yo-yo effect. In 2012, I'd finally had enough. At that point, I was really overweight, and I knew something had to change. By changing my diet, I lost 50 kilos*."

One factor Claudia emphasizes is that she learned she has a lactose intolerance. She then eliminated dairy products from her diet. While it hasn't been scientifically proven that lactose intolerance inhibits fat loss, many sufferers report that they only started to lose weight effectively after switching to a low-lactose diet.

And that was the happy ending to your 'diet story'?

"No, that was far from the end."
My weight was yo-yoing again. History repeated itself. I gained and lost weight. Gained and lost. Gained and lost. At first, it was only a few kilos, but for the last two years, my scale has been going up rather than down. I never went back to my starting weight, but there was this constant fear that one day I'd end up over 50 kilos again. That took a toll on me mentally.

I think you're not alone in this fear. The yo-yo effect affects many people. What did you do to feel better now?

“I decided for myself not to give up and to find a way that works for me. Over the past few years – and all the different diets – I realized how important it is that I find something that suits me, my everyday life, my tastes and my body. And then I stumbled across SHEKO by chance and thought to myself: ‘I’ll give that a try now’.”

Claudia continues experimenting: Not all shakes are created equal.

Have you had any experience with shakes before?

"Sure, with some. I used to drink the 'typical ones from the pharmacy' back then. But I never stuck with them for long. Simply because they tasted awful and had a mealy texture. You probably know which ones I mean. That's why I was super surprised when I tried my first SHEKO shake. I thought it was delicious right away, so light and fluffy."

And lo and behold: I felt fine. As I said before: You have to find out what works for you and your body. For me, that's the most important thing."

How does SHEKO work in everyday life?

It sounds like the transition was incredibly easy for you. How were you able to integrate SHEKO into your daily routine?

"The switch was so easy for me because I quickly realized everything I could do with SHEKO."
This has now become a part of my daily routine: Sure, if I'm in a hurry and on the go, I just shake up a shake. But I also love making a breakfast bowl with the 'Vanilla' powder. I mix the powder with almond milk, add some chia seeds and rolled oats, and top it with fresh fruit. It keeps me full until lunchtime and is simply delicious. Or – especially in summer – I love making a kind of sorbet with it. For that, I mix the coconut powder with almond milk, give it a shake, put the mixture in the blender, and blend it with frozen berries. There's no faster way to satisfy my ice cream cravings.

What else is on your menu besides SHEKO?

"Well, I mainly use SHEKO for breakfast. At lunchtime, I eat whatever I feel like. That's usually vegetables, a crisp salad in the summer. And if I'm craving fries and currywurst, then I eat fries and currywurst. I don't count calories. I just make sure I eat a balanced diet overall. I've also noticed that it's good for me if my lunch is my main meal. Then I'm less hungry in the evening and don't snack so mindlessly."

In the evening, Claudia eats plenty of protein in the form of boiled eggs, lentils, and similar foods. Protein in the evening is filling and simultaneously boosts fat burning. It also helps the body regenerate better and is essential for muscle building. This is especially important because exercise is recommended for weight loss and a healthy lifestyle.

"Exercise is important to me. I do sports about three times a week. I especially like going to Zumba."

Is yo-yoing over it?

How are you doing now? How's the yo-yo effect going?

“I’m doing great. Even my friends comment on how balanced I am. With other diets, I was always in a bad mood. And then there was that fear I mentioned earlier. With SHEKO, I feel safe. I’m no longer afraid of the yo-yo effect, and I’ve maintained my weight for nine months without stress.”

Find your own right

Claudia has tried several diets. She's noticed that everyone has to figure out for themselves what works and what doesn't. Listen to your body. Observe your thoughts. Are you constantly hungry, in a bad mood, and always giving up on your diet? Then this might not be the right one for you.

Don't aim too high.

It's always good to know where you want to go. But it's better to think in small steps. If you set yourself a goal that seems almost unattainable, you'll quickly lose motivation. However, if you take small steps and then master them, you have something to celebrate and can see your progress.
