The path to a fresh start
Anja, please tell us a little about yourself and how you came to SHEKO.
“I’m 55, have three adult children, two grandchildren, and my daughter Maraike ultimately led me to SHEKO. She had been shaking for a while and told me about it. At first, I was a bit skeptical, but then pleasantly surprised.“
Sometimes it’s exactly that one recommendation from the family that changes everything.
What made you want to change your weight back then?
“I had two foster children with me who were then placed elsewhere. That was a blow of fate. And afterwards, I really gained 20 kilos within a few weeks, from 76 to 96 kilos. It happened so fast that I ran from doctor to doctor. They all said: menopause. But I didn’t want to just accept that. At times, I was at the gym three to four times a week, doing circuit training and targeted strength building, and nothing changed. It was totally frustrating.”
Emotional stress can profoundly affect body weight – regardless of what you eat or how much you move. On top of that, metabolism can actually slow down during menopause. That’s exactly why sometimes a new approach is needed that meets the body where it currently is.
