You found out you have cancer in November 2022. How did you react to the diagnosis?

"For me, the diagnosis was a real eye-opener. I realized how important it is to be healthy . I lost my mother at a young age. I want to be there for my own children for a long time, and fit and happy . That's why I decided while still in the hospital that I was going to make some changes."

Diana is undergoing chemotherapy when she starts searching for shakes online. She has no prior experience with them, so she decides to try them out.

You sound very disciplined and determined. Have there ever been moments when you wanted to give up?

"Sure, there were moments. But the moments when I see how much better I feel simply outweigh them. And I use those as motivation to keep going. But – between you and me – it's not like I'm depriving myself of anything. If I feel like having chocolate, I'll eat two pieces now and then. It's just a matter of keeping everything within reason and still maintaining a calorie deficit."

Diana tells us that she still wants to lose about 10 kilos, is determined to continue with yoga, and has developed a new awareness of her satiety signals . "I can feel when I'm full and then I stop eating. That wasn't always the case."

She also says that she experiences fewer cravings with SHEKO. She can resist sweets much better – even though she "could have lived on chocolate" back then.

Motivate each other

Find a group that shares the same goal. In a chat group and at regular meetings, you can encourage each other, share successes, and support each other whenever someone is having a tough time.

Weigh less

Diana only weighs herself once a week to avoid stress. She also knows that the menstrual cycle affects weight. Many women experience water retention just before their period, which can add up to three kilos to their weight, but this disappears again naturally. So please don't be alarmed.

Small changes

A radical change scares many people. But it's often the little things that can lead to significant changes. For example: You don't have to go to the gym every day. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. Or: Start by simply replacing your buttery breakfast croissant with a shake. You can gradually ease your way towards a healthier diet.
