Dominik: His weight loss journey
After suffering from obesity for over ten years and undergoing gastric bypass surgery, it was finally his family doctor who told him off. For almost a year now, Dominik has been getting closer and closer to his goal weight . With lots of fun, an iron will, and SHEKO. Cravings and emotional eating? Not a chance!
Tell us your story, Dominik. How has your weight changed?
“Even as a child, I was a bit chubby. I wasn't extremely overweight back then. Nevertheless, it crept in gradually because I became increasingly sedentary. By the beginning of 2020, I was already very overweight. As the pandemic progressed, it got worse because I hardly left the house anymore.”
Dominik has been struggling with obesity for some time. When he first realized that something had to change, he decided to have gastric bypass surgery. That was in 2010. Success came quickly, and Dominik lost over half his weight. However, at almost 2 meters tall, he was soon considered underweight – which is also not healthy.
What was your diet like before SHEKO?
“In 2014, I started eating worse again. After my stomach surgery, I was able to eat normal portions because my stomach had recovered – but I consumed too many sweets. The result: weight gain. Again.”
Although the stomach reduction surgery helped in the short term, he lost sight of his goal after some time.
What experiences have you had with other diets?
"I've tried every diet in my life, but this is the first diet that's actually fun and even forgives mistakes."
Of course, Dominik has already had experience with calorie counting. He also tried Weight Watchers and another shake. However, he was unsuccessful.
