Goodbye, genetically determined obesity: Eileen's SHEKO story
Eileen has struggled with her weight for as long as she can remember. She loses weight, then gains it back. In the summer of 2023, she decides to finally break free from the yo-yo dieting cycle. She begins her own SHEKO story, which you can read here.
Eileen: Obesity runs in the family
You discovered SHEKO for weight loss this summer. Had you wanted to lose weight for a while?
"To be honest, I've been trying to lose weight for many years. I've even succeeded a few times – but the success was always short-lived. I'd just lost a few kilos before they were back on again. Being overweight runs in our family. I like to joke that in other families, houses are inherited – in ours, it's the belly."
Our genes do indeed influence our fat metabolism, our feeling of satiety, and fat distribution. So it's true that being overweight can "run in the family." However, it's also true that diet and exercise play a significant role in whether we become obese or stay slim. Even better: a study has found that external factors can override our genes.
This means that even if you are genetically predisposed to being overweight, you can lose weight just as well as anyone else with the right diet. Eileen's success proves this.
Let's start with SHEKO
You've already lost 10 kilos in the last few months. How did SHEKO support you in this?
"SHEKO helped me to really get started with losing weight. Setting a specific date was incredibly valuable for me. To be prepared, I ordered a shake container for home and the sample sachets for the office. When I knew the delivery date, I knew: that's the day I'm starting."
And how exactly did it all begin?
"I have two shakes a day. I drink one before work and the second during my lunch break. I'm not hungry in between. The shakes really fill me up. In the evening, I eat with my family. I pay attention to my calories then. I have an app where I enter my SHEKOs and occasional snacks like crispbread, and then I can see how much I'm still allowed to eat. That's usually a big plate full of fresh vegetables and some lean meat. It's important to me that it's nicely balanced."
It sounds like you've become an expert. Has that been the case for a long time?
"Not at all. Before SHEKO, I didn't know how to lose weight sustainably. I'd tried diets before, but none of them worked for me in the long run. Simply because I learned very little from strict guidelines. As soon as the diet was over, the yo-yo effect kicked in. Because SHEKO gives me so much freedom, I've now paid more attention to my diet."
SHEKO also makes pizza and chips.
Are you sticking to your new diet 100%?
"Yes and no. Part of my new way of eating is that I sometimes make exceptions. But I planned to do that from the beginning. I know that I stay motivated longer if I can indulge every now and then. I base my approach on the '80% healthy, 20% treat' rule – and I stick to it 100%."
The 80/20 rule is suitable for anyone who wants to lose weight without restrictions or maintain their ideal weight. Eileen has already summed up the principle perfectly. It's about eating healthy foods 80% of the time and leaving 20% for sweet and salty treats.
What does this look like in everyday life with SHEKO? There are two approaches: The first relates to a single meal. If you cook in the evening like Eileen (and have shakes in the morning and at lunchtime), you could, for example, eat a balanced lentil salad with avocado and feta (the 80% part), and then enjoy a mini donut for dessert (the 20% part). The second approach concerns your entire week. If you have two shakes and one meal a day, four of these can fall into the "less healthy" category each week. This makes it possible to occasionally eat a pizza or cook your favorite lasagna.
"My family and I have agreed that we eat absolutely healthy food during the week and save the '20% unhealthy' food for Saturdays. That's when we spend cozy evenings on the couch and don't feel guilty about reaching for the bag of chips."
Would you say that it's these treat-yourself moments that convince you most about SHEKO?
"Of course, I absolutely love that I don't have to miss out on anything. But I'm also impressed by the natural taste and especially the value for money. One can lasts me for the stated 25 servings – so almost two weeks. Sometimes even longer, because you can mix the flavors. A tip: If you mix chocolate andcoconut , the shake tastes like a very well-known chocolate bar."
Losing weight with SHEKO: Eileen's tips
-
1
Don't weigh yourself too often
“During one of my previous diets, I weighed myself several times a week. It just stressed me out.” That’s why Eileen has now decided to weigh herself only once a month. This makes her feel freer and better. -
2
Get the family on board
Even though Eileen is currently the only one in her family who drinks SHEKO, her husband and stepson are on board with the new way of eating. In the evenings, they cook healthy meals together and only indulge in treats if Eileen does so on weekends. "This not only strengthens my resolve but also the bonds within the family." -
3
Don't stop after "exceptions".
Whether it's during vacations, holidays, or periods when things just don't seem to go right – sometimes it's harder to stick to a new diet. If you experience a setback, simply pick it up again afterward. Just because you didn't have a shake on vacation doesn't mean you can't start again after your trip. Keep your long-term goals clearly in mind.
Eileen's SHEKO story shows that changing your diet doesn't have to involve strict restrictions. Instead, your diet should be uncomplicated and stress-free. We want you to reach your personal best with greater ease. Let Eileen's story inspire you and start your own personal success journey.

To lose weight, two daily meals must be replaced with SHEKO shakes as part of a calorie-reduced diet.
