Know yourself! Susanne's SHEKO Story
Even before Susanne started losing weight with SHEKO, she knew: "I don't want to put any pressure on myself." So she began to shake with ease. And lo and behold: she lost a whole 23 kilos. Read her success story here.
Susanne: Looking back in order to then look forward
You lost 23 kilos with SHEKO. Was that your goal from the beginning?
“No, I never had a specific number in mind. When I started with SHEKO, my goal was to fit back into my light blue pantsuit. We had a big family celebration coming up. A few years earlier, I had worn it to a friend’s wedding.”
I bought this great two-piece suit. Now it doesn't fit anymore. I still had a few weeks to change that.
Do you know why you've gained weight since your boyfriend's wedding?
"Yes, I've thought about that a lot. I think it's really important to understand why you gained weight. For me, it was clearly the lack of exercise. During the pandemic, I hardly left the house. My husband and I became real couch potatoes. Without even realizing it, the kilos gradually crept up."
So you're saying that the path to a 'slimmer self' should begin with a look back?
"Absolutely. Because only when I know where I come from can I be clear about where my journey should lead. That way I can finally see where things have gone wrong so far and can change that. It also makes me realize that the extra pounds didn't appear overnight, but accumulated over years. So it's obvious that they'll need time to disappear. It's not 'snap and it's gone.'"
We repeatedly emphasize that our shakes are not miracle cures. You won't magically become slim overnight. A realistic goal is a weekly weight loss of 500 grams – this corresponds to healthy weight loss. However, keep in mind that everyone is different. How much weight you lose depends, for example, on where you're starting from. If you are significantly overweight, the pounds will likely drop off faster at the beginning than for those who simply want to tone their figure.
"Once I understood that, the pressure was gone. I don't 'push' myself or my body to lose weight quickly. I give it the time it needs and think long-term. That gives me much more freedom and a good feeling."
Those who stay true to themselves are successful.
What you're describing makes it sound like you're completely at peace with yourself. Was it like that from the beginning, or did it come with the weight loss?
"Both. Right from the start, I resolved to be completely honest with myself. When I was thinking about how I could lose weight, it was clear to me: I needed some help. I simply didn't have enough knowledge about changing my diet on my own. And I also knew that joining a gym wouldn't do any good. I lacked the motivation and time. Seeing my weight drop on the scale motivated me."
then confirmed: "Those who know themselves and remain true to themselves are both happier and more successful."
How did you come across SHEKO?
"Well, I knew I didn't want to change myself. So I searched the internet for a way that would adapt to me, not the other way around. I immediately liked that SHEKO can be used so individually. I mean, everyone can decide for themselves how they want to use the shakes."
How do you use the shakes?
"From the very beginning, I've replaced one meal with the shake – usually my breakfast. For lunch, I have quark with rolled oats and a banana, and in the evening, I cook a fresh meal with my husband and daughter. I often get inspiration from your recipes . I especially love the overnight oats . I also have the occasional treat or eat cake on the weekends. I just make sure that my calorie intake is right at the end of the day."
Small differences, big impact
You said earlier that a gym membership isn't for you. Have you found another form of exercise that works for you?
"Yes, I did. After realizing I'd gained so much weight because I'd become a couch potato, I thought: Time to get off the sofa! My husband and I have been going for a walk every evening since then. We don't jog, but we walk at a pretty brisk pace. It's not only great because we get moving and enjoy the fresh air..."
It's not just because we're having fun, but also because we're chatting at the same time. On the couch.
"We wouldn't do that in front of the TV."
A 2017 study shows that 10,000 steps a day are just as effective for weight loss as five 30-minute workouts per week. People who are regularly active are less likely to store calories as fat than those who are sedentary. This means that even short bursts of activity are incredibly effective.
Have you changed anything else in your daily routine?
"This has nothing to do with weight loss, but I've also started taking your collagen powder in the mornings . I mean, who doesn't want stronger hair and nails and fewer wrinkles? That's part of feeling good all around."
Losing weight with SHEKO: Susanne's tips
Here's the guide to your very own success story.
Anyone who thinks that losing weight means bland, unappetizing food is mistaken. On the contrary: if you follow your SHEKO path, you can try delicious new flavors. "I think it's so cool that you keep releasing limited editions. I always have the classic ' Vanilla ' at home. I add variety with these special flavors. I thought Cherry and Hazelnut were simply fantastic!"
It's important to set realistic goals. If you put yourself under stress, you'll not only be in a bad mood, but you could even slow down your weight loss. Stress releases the hormone cortisol, disrupting your metabolism and causing cravings and elevated blood sugar.
"For me, it was really crucial not to fool myself from the beginning: I reflected on myself and then decided what my weight loss path should look like. Everyone has to learn for themselves what works best for them."
*The amount of weight loss varies from person to person and cannot be guaranteed. Similarly, the weight loss results reported in the SHEKO stories are individual and do not guarantee a corresponding weight loss within the same timeframe. To lose weight, two daily meals must be replaced with SHEKO shakes as part of a calorie-reduced diet.
