With SHEKO, love goes through the stomach: Merle's success story
With SHEKO, Merle lost 6 kilos*. She's happy about the weight loss. But what makes her even happier is what she's gained at the same time: a new awareness of healthy eating that gives her more enjoyment and pleasure from food.
The excess weight came with the partnership.
In our SHEKO community on Facebook, you've been sharing your successes and thoughts on our Balance Shake since June. Your goal is to lose almost 10 kilos*, and you've already lost 6 kilos*. Where did the desire to lose weight come from?
"For as long as I can remember, I've maintained my normal weight. I never had any 'excess kilos' or felt uncomfortable. Since the beginning of the year, I noticed that my trousers were getting tighter month by month, until by summer they simply wouldn't fit anymore. The scale then confirmed what I already suspected: I had gained 8 kilos*."
Do you know how the increase came about?
"It's quite simple: I met my current boyfriend – and together we like to take it easy. We love spending time together on the couch, ordering delicious food, and watching a good movie. That's why I sometimes like to call those 8 kilos my 'happy' kilos. I don't want to speak ill of them, because I know they came about during happy times. But when my pants no longer fit, they didn't make me quite so happy anymore. So I thought about how 'the way to a man's heart is through his stomach' could work without excess weight."
From Lady and the Tramp sharing a plate of spaghetti to a dinner spent enjoying time with friends and family around a set table – it's true, "the way to a person's heart is through their stomach." The saying is said to originate from the idea that cooking for someone else is a sign of affection. Furthermore, eating together in a relaxed atmosphere promotes relaxation and emotional well-being. This not only strengthens one's own personality but also relationships with others. Therefore, it's far more valuable to consciously enjoy a meal in company than to snack quickly and, above all, alone.
With SHEKO, love goes healthy through the stomach.
When you were wondering how to achieve "the way to a man's heart is through his stomach" without gaining weight, you came across SHEKO. What convinced you?
"At first, it was the delicious taste. I ordered the 'Coconut ' flavor to start with and was immediately blown away - practically love at first sight. After a few days, I started to pay more attention to my diet."
Did you buy books specifically for that?
“No, I didn’t have to. I simply stood in front of my refrigerator and became aware of what I was actually eating. Like how many calories my drinks have, for example, or how much sugar is in my favorite snacks. SHEKO made me think more about healthy eating. And at the same time showed me that ‘delicious’ doesn’t have to be a calorie bomb.”
How exactly did you get started with SHEKO?
"I started with two shakes a day. At the same time, I started tracking calories with the Yazio app. I used your calorie calculator to find out how much I can consume daily to lose weight . It only takes five easy steps."
And how does your love for SHEKO fit in with your love of eating together with your boyfriend and girlfriends?
"It works perfectly! I just replace the two meals I would normally eat at home with a shake. Like my breakfast, for example. Then, when colleagues ask me at lunchtime if I want to go out for lunch, I can happily say 'yes, of course!' And in the evening, I have another shake. Or I drink my shake in the morning and at lunchtime, and then I can cook a delicious pasta dish for myself and my boyfriend in the evening. It's like Lady and the Tramp's candlelit dinner."
Replacing two meals with a SHEKO Balance Shake results in a total calorie intake of only 404 calories. This leaves you with 700 calories per day to enjoy as you wish – for example, if your basal metabolic rate is 1,400 calories and you want to maintain a 300-calorie deficit for weight loss. An Asian rice dish with chicken has approximately 448 calories, a cheesecake muffin with strawberries only about 101 calories, and vegetarian stuffed zucchini about 367 calories.
"The best thing about it is that I can enjoy everything so much more now. Simply because I don't have a guilty conscience and I eat with a good feeling."
Now, self-love also goes through the stomach.
Your happiness is evident in your voice and expression. Do you feel the same way?
"Enjoying food with a clear conscience gives me such a great feeling about life. I'm also doing home workouts now, which I simply enjoy. I positively glow during them and sometimes burst out laughing, so much so that even my boyfriend comments on it. I feel really good in my body. It seems that not only love, but also self-love, goes through the stomach."
Self-love doesn't have to be about your body at all; rather, it's what arises when you trust yourself. And how does self-confidence develop? We believe you develop it as soon as you easily recognize what makes you feel good and brings a smile to your face.

It's often not just our food that causes our calorie intake to skyrocket. A lot of sugar is "hidden," especially in drinks. A glass of supposedly healthy orange juice contains over 100 calories. To get the important vitamins without added sugar, it's recommended to eat fruit in its natural, unprocessed form. And generally, it's best to drink water and unsweetened beverages.
When Merle started with SHEKO, she went through the food in her refrigerator to get a better sense of what she was actually eating. "My calorie-tracking app also helped me find supposed 'fattening foods,'" she says. This allowed her to consciously change her eating habits and achieve long-term success.
